General

How to protect and manage 20th century heritage in a holistic and responsible manner? What insight can we gain to apply to Hong Kong?

Sheridan Burke, ICOMOS Honorary Member, will introduce The Twentieth-Century Historic Thematic Framework: A Tool for Assessing Heritage Places published by the Getty Conservation Institute in collaboration with the ICOMOS ISC20C.

Internationally, professional and scholarly interest in the conservation and promotion of 20th century heritage places is growing. Yet significant places of the modern era are absent or under-represented in most heritage surveys, from local inventories to World Heritage nominations. So many sites and places are at risk through lack of public awareness and protection.

The new framework is a tool for heritage conservation professionals around the world, a catalyst for Identifying and conserving 20th century heritage sites and places.

The event will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation from English to Cantonese available.

Speaker:

Sheridan Burke | ICOMOS Honorary Member (Online)
