Tai Kwun Conversations: IN OUR HANDS Series

Taking a holistic view of heritage, development, and sustainability, the spring series of Tai Kwun Conversations presents three respective programmes about caring for people, cultural and natural heritage in times of global crises. It covers the care of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in conflict-affected areas as well as the care of human wellbeing and biodiversity in a complex world of interconnected challenges.

Hong Kong is blessed with world-class natural assets: green country parks, a majestic natural coastline, extensive Deep Bay wetlands, rural landscapes with villages and farming communities. But the precious ecosystems are under immense pressure from the demands of regional and local mega-infrastructure and development plans. Mainstreaming biodiversity into policies and plans for sustainable development will ensure that Hong Kong’s unique natural heritage and rich biodiversity are being protected.

This talk focuses on Nature-based Solutions that protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural and modified ecosystems while addressing societal challenges and benefiting people and nature at the same time. It offers insights on how to make Hong Kong a truly green city that is more resilient to natural disasters and climate change.

The conversations will be conducted in Cantonese, with Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation.
