Yang Yeung made it her motto that “catching up with the life of an artist is a life well-lived.” This has led to a life of learning from artists, but only as artists do. Yeung yearns to foster impromptu dialogues with those gathered serendipitously around Tang Kwok Hin’s Every Pandiculate, in a quest to unearth new ideas from Tang’s artistic processes. It turned out that such ideas as ‘diversity of cultural expressions’, ‘solitude’, ‘socially-aspired’ and ‘trust’ also anchored her own journey of artistic discovery. Reading from a selection of some of her favorites works of philosophy, poetry, science and art, she invites all to do the same as they seek to learn in times of pandiculation.

Tang Kwok Hin, mixed media artist, independent curator and writer, was born in 1983 and raised in Hong Kong. He received his Master of Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008 and a Bachelor of Arts (major in Fine Arts) in 2006. Tang embarked on his artistic path by continuously questioning his native background. He soon began exploring the origins of existence and intimate aesthetics, inseparably linking the infinite with the self as part of his journey. He often appropriates and reconstructs daily and personal contexts to uncover the hidden narrative of human stories dealing with growth, inheritance, freedom, capitalism, consumerism, nature, politics and norms as a way to express concerns about people and their surroundings. His works are widely exhibited locally and internationally. He was awarded the first prize at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial 2009; selected by Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2010, 2011 and 2014; awarded a Young Artist Award by Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2010; and granted by the Asian Cultural Council in 2013. Collectors of his art include the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Deutsche Bank, Amelia Johnson Contemporary and private collections over the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Austria, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.
Yeung Yang is an independent curator, writer and university lecturer devoted to identifying, curating and researching art programmes with proven ability to develop, manage and implement strategic plans. She often receives commissions from local artists and academics in the United States, Finland, Germany, Singapore and Australia to contribute critical writings and reviews to exhibition catalogues, art anthologies and academic discussions. She founded the non-profit Soundpocket in 2008 to promote sound as art and its research and education in Hong Kong. (www.soundpocket.org.hk).
