Led by renowned cellist and Artist Director Trey Lee, multiple award-winning Musicus young artists reunite in Tai Kwun in a series of chamber music concerts.
Within Tai Kwun, in the Central Magistracy where classical music concerts are rarely presented, baroque gems by J.S. Bach, G.P. Telemann and Jean-Marie Leclair will be featured alongside virtuosic pieces for solo violin by Kreisler and Ysaÿe. The imprisonment of Bach in Weimar, the law education Telemann received in Leipzig and the mysterious murder of Leclair in Paris—these stories behind the composers are all intertwined with the juridical realm.
Away from the law, works with romantic associations by composers set the stage for two concerts in the JC Cube. Leclair and Saint-Saëns’ works date from the years of the composers’ marriages. The Piano Quintet by Vaughan Williams is a generous gift to the world from his widow, who rescinded a longstanding embargo on its performance in 1999. In addition, a new work by Call for Scores winner Meilina Tsui and a work chosen to mark the centenary of Astor Piazzolla's birth will also be performed.
Join us and be inspired by the music presented in this truly historic environment!
