Awakening Hong Kong’s History with Music

Unique in its history among world cities, Hong Kong's cultural heritage makes for a singular and compelling story for locals and visitors alike. The city's dynamic counterpoint between the traditional and the ultra-modern provides ample inspiration as a backdrop upon which audiences can appreciate and reflect on Hong Kong's enduring legacy. And what better way to accomplish this than to transform the heritage venues into ad hoc concert stages with thematic programs and new works inspired by the history of the venues!

Since 2013, Musicus Heritage has taken world-class performers to various locales and settings in Hong Kong, thus putting the music in context with the historical and cultural significance of the surroundings. With support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, we embark on an exciting new chapter in 2019 with the Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Alive program - an extended series at Tai Kwun, a center for heritage and arts located in the restored Central Police Station compound, and other heritage venues of note. In addition to site-specific concert performances, the new series is enhanced with artist residencies and educational events designed to benefit the concert audiences, students and the community at large.
