School Guided Tour

Take a class outside of the classroom and enjoy a 60-minute guided tour of Tai Kwun. Explore it as an interdisciplinary place of engagement, where students are encouraged to utilise their knowledge in different subjects and integrate it into an immersive experience at this highly significant historical and cultural site in Hong Kong.

Through the tour, students will be guided to explore the cultural significance of Tai Kwun with regards to its conservation and revitalisation. They will also be encouraged to reflect on meaningful questions related to their personal and real-world experiences.



Time: Every Wed 09:30-10:30 / Thu 09:30-10:30 / Fri 15:00-16:00 (Except on public holidays)

Self-guided School Tour

Teachers have the option to host their classes and interact with students in an informal way with this experiential learning approach. The self-guided tour encourages intrinsic motivation for learning, and inspires curiosity about the heritage site.

Self-Guided Tour will be led by teacher(s), without any docent. To help you in creating your own routes tailored to meet students’ individual learning needs, we have prepared a set of learning kit. It is designed to help navigating the heritage site, facilitate conversations with students, and provide interpretive content as you explore the site.



Application must be made 15 working days in advance before the proposed date of visit. Booking confirmation will be sent to the teachers in charge via email.

Courtroom Theatre

The courtroom of the former Central Magistracy is turned into an immersive theatre for students to re-enact historic court cases. Through roleplay and discussion, this inquiry-based activity allow students to ask important questions and acquire critical thinking and communication skills.

Two themes are available for upper primary to secondary school students. This activity is conducted in Cantonese only.

Teachers’ Resource Handbook

This handbook acquaints primary and secondary school teachers with the history and revitalisation of Tai Kwun. Suggested learning activities deepen students’ understanding of Hong Kong’s conservation policies, as well as the importance of striking a balance between conservation and sustainable urban development.
